Remember the feeling when you first heard the music of E.T., Dances with Wolves, Harry Potter, or The Lord of the Rings?
Now imagine hearing that music performed live by a 50-piece orchestra in the heart of Simi Valley.
On September 16, experience the legendary music of John Williams, Howard Shore, Jerry Goldsmith, John Barry, and other iconic film composers, performed by the Simi Valley Symphony Orchestra.
The concert will feature music from E.T., Harry Potter, Dances with Wolves, The Lord of the Rings, Star Trek Through the Years, Mission: Impossible, A.I. Artificial Intelligence, The Patriot, and more, inside one of Simi Valley’s most extraordinary venues: House of the Book at the Brandeis-Bardin Campus of American Jewish University.
Brand New Music
Over the past several months, SIMI Film Fest has conducted a global search for the next generation of film composers, offering five talented composers the opportunity to have their music performed live by a 50-piece orchestra.
We’re proud to introduce our five winners: Eva Mazurek, Finn Clarke, Thomas Yamada, Haoyu Chen, and Quanying Wang.
Be among the first audiences to hear their original scores performed live to picture at the SIMI Film Fest Film Music Concert.
The concert will also feature music from three films screening at this year’s festival: The Buzz in Ben, Masterpiece, and Evie’s Christmas Gift, with original scores by Ethan Anderson, Jesse Haugen, and Giuseppe Alfano, respectively.

Built on an Established Film Music Concert
In 2025, SIMI Film Fest featured orchestral performances of original film scores by composers Forrest Gray (winner of SIMIFF Best Score 2025) and Greg Nicolett (winner of SIMIFF Best Score 2024), whose films screened as part of the festival. Their music was presented live by the Simi Valley Symphony Orchestra during the Film Music Concert, offering audiences a rare opportunity to experience film music beyond the screen.
The SIMIFF Film Music Competition builds on this foundation—expanding an established concert tradition to invite composers from around the world to participate.
